Other Design Ideas and Projects That Will Make You Say “Wow”

Welcoming Entryways

We installed wall hooks, a floating bench with baskets underneath, and a slim console table. A round mirror opened up the space, and a cozy runner rug warmed things up. We finished with a vase of dried flowers and a framed quote that made them smile every time they walked through the door. To keep keys and mail in check, we added a small catchall tray. Swapping the overhead bulb for a soft-glow pendant brought just enough charm to make this tiny entry feel intentional.

A Dining Room

The room had a beautiful table, but the space lacked warmth. We leaned into soft textures—adding linen curtains, upholstered chairs, and a cozy rug underfoot. A black iron chandelier brought drama, while an oversized abstract painting tied the room together. We kept the palette simple as we used creams, wood tones, and charcoal. We added candlelight touches throughout. Here, the dinner feels like an occasion.

Beautiful Bedroom

With soft neutral bedding, textured throw pillows, and nightstands, we created a layered, cozy foundation that felt inviting. By putting built-in lights on each nightstand, we kept the surface clutter-free while adding a soft, warm glow for evening reading. A DIY-painted arch behind the headboard added shape and interest without needing artwork. Instead of a dresser, we used a wardrobe with mirrored doors to bounce light and save floor space.

Nursery Nook for a Studio Apartment

We sectioned off part of the room with a sheer curtain and created a cozy nursery nook. Neutral tones with warm peach accents gave it a soft glow. A mini crib, wall-mounted storage, and floating bookshelves kept things organized without crowding the space. We brought in a soft rug for warmth, blackout curtains for nap time, and dimmable string lights for a dreamy touch. This cozy corner proves how other design ideas can shine even in shared spaces. With just a few thoughtful changes, a studio apartment can support both baby and parent in comfort.

Cozy Reading Nook with Personality

Reading nooks like this fall outside traditional room categories — but they’re the kind of other design ideas that make a house feel like home.

We added a comfy armchair, layered throws, and a textured rug to create instant comfort. A wall-mounted lamp provided the perfect light for evenings, and shelves stacked with their favorite books made it feel personal. In the final touches, a framed photo from their travels and a plant for life brought warmth and meaning. We added a small side table with a candle and coaster, just right for tea and a journal.

Lobby Transformation

Hallways are often forgotten, but we didn’t let that happen with this one. We made the walk from room to room feel a little more special. We added a painted half-wall in a soft olive tone, swapped out the old light fixture for a warm-glow pendant, and styled the space with a long runner and framed family photos. A slim floating shelf held a small plant and scented reed diffuser to add life and freshness.

Stylish Workspace

Hallways are often forgotten, but we didn’t let that happen with this one. We made the walk from room to room feel a little more special. We added a painted half-wall in a soft olive tone, swapped out the old light fixture for a warm-glow pendant, and styled the space with a long runner and framed family photos. Black gallery frames for contrast, a vintage brass hook for keys, and a narrow floating shelf for seasonal decor made the space feel complete.

Laundry Room Decor

We brightened the space with peel-and-stick tile flooring, open shelving with labeled baskets, and a warm wood countertop over the machines. A hanging rod for air drying and a mounted ironing board made the space more efficient. To hide detergent clutter, we added matching glass jars with wooden scoops, and a wire basket for lost socks. A pop of color on the walls and a framed print that said “Fresh & Clean” added charm.

Cool Playroom

We used a rainbow base palette of soft blues and creams, then added in pops of color with storage bins, wall decals, and a chalkboard wall. Everything was designed to be safe, durable, and flexible —rounded furniture corners, washable slipcovers, and a rug that cushions tumbles. We hung art at kid-height and used labeled bins with icons to encourage cleanup. A teepee in the corner became a hideaway, and low shelves made toys easy to reach — a perfect example of how other design ideas can be both fun and functional.

Pet-Friendly Sunroom

We turned the unused sunroom into a comfy lounge with durable fabrics, washable cushions, and pet-safe plants. A bench seat with a view of the yard became the cats’ favorite nap spot, while sheer curtains softened the sunlight. A rattan hanging chair added a fun twist, and soft-toned accessories tied the space together. You can choose this design to create a relaxing space in which to sip morning coffee with your cats.
